Upcoming update
In the upcoming update of Shop-Script (which will be named WebAsyst Shopping Cart after it is released) we plan to add new functions:
- adding orders from your store backend (great for phone orders)
- editing existing orders information and content
- editing customer information
- discounts for returning customers (discounts are calculated based on the total amount of all customer’s purchases)
- ability to view customer’s address on a map and get directions how to get there (powered by Google Maps)
- everything else that was already announced (all features of WebAsyst Shopping cart web-service, discount coupons)
When new version is released, we will publish a full list of upgrades.
Here are few screenshots:
Due to release of new functions listed above and some unexpected difficulties with the release (one of these is unstable function on IIS server — we are working on this now), we have to delay release for a couple of weeks.
If you would like to be the first to get the new version and help us with final beta testing of the product, subscribe using this form:
We will offer new version to those who subscribe using this form and who already purchased Shop-Script PRO or Shop-Script PREMIUM. Beta test period will last while we are preparing presentation of the new version on Shop-Script website.
As we wrote earlier, all our existing customers will get access to the new version for free.
We hope you will like our new update. One of the biggest advantages will be the all new update platform — you will be able to install software update for your online store by clicking “Update” button in your store admin area. It will not require copying files manually and altering database structure to install update — this will be automated.
After this release we plan to gradually integrate many useful features for your storefront (delivering them will become much easier).
Thank you for waiting for the new version, for your feedback and support.
Hello
please try to release it as soon as possible as all your customers are waiting, don’t make it delay any more otherwise you get more complains from others.
hope you add more usable features and make it more better than x-cart.

Hello,
Can we speak about specific date? A month, end of the month, couple of weeks sounds so never… In couple of weeks you might come up with another useful features, this is no surprise as there is plenty of room for them to come.
Just one question please when (what date) will I be able to download this new upgrade? I find production terms nearly most important thing in todays business world.
Comment by Darius — March 28, 2008 @ 3:23 am
I expect it to be released in about 2 weeks, as i mentioned in the message. I’m sorry, but no exact dates for now…
Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — March 28, 2008 @ 4:25 am
A feature that is importent to me, but has not been mentioned is the abillity to upload downloadable products to an external server. Is that a feature I can expext the new version to contain???
Comment by Kevin — March 28, 2008 @ 7:10 am
Here I’m waiting too. Especially I’m waiting for the full multilingual support, which I tried already in the test version and it looks great. I will expand by business region when I have that multilingual support. So yes, the sooner, the better. But I’l in software development myself and I know how difficult scheduling is. So, good luck to you and you team, Vladimir! You’ve done a great job so far.

Great work so far and I can’t wait for the new version! I look forward to testing it out on a Ubuntu webserver. Keep up the good work..

Mohammad, in this version integration between WebAsyst Shopping cart and Contacts will not be fully supported, however we realize how great would it be, and will be working on these apps integration.

Hi, We are too looking to purchase, we were going to purchase premium but how much longer for this new version and will it be the same price as premium?
Comment by jason — April 4, 2008 @ 9:48 am
New update price will remain $299. We are not going to change it.
If you purchase PREMIUM now, you will get update to new version for free.
Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 4, 2008 @ 10:01 am
Cheers we will be purchasing this weekend,
i have allready built a website for this, is the script straight forward for intergrating into existing websites?
Comment by jason — April 5, 2008 @ 8:00 am
This depends on how do you wish to integrate.
You will have to whether integrate “Add to cart” buttons (widgets) on each page of your website or modify Shop-Script design to meet your look & feel (using built-in design editor).
Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 6, 2008 @ 1:23 pm
Any news? what is going on?
Comment by Ajimu — April 6, 2008 @ 3:11 pm
Have been waiting for so long… when you are going to release this new shopping cart. why dont you sell the one you have now and add more function as it is available… i think it will not be a problem as you mansioned upgrading will be very easy for us.
i have already hired a PHP programmer who will do some modifications on your script but a month already he is just waiting in my office for the new script and taking slalry…….but your promisses never ends….
Comment by Mohammad — April 7, 2008 @ 12:13 pm
Vladimir has promised to release it in couple of weeks. I understand this as two? First week is out, second is in progress. I just wonder how sooner will those who filled form receive beta release then official one will be released for everyone else?
Comment by Darius — April 7, 2008 @ 11:48 pm
Sir, each time you are saying that it will be released in next few days. Do you think that this lie will keep people on buying your software? I am sure that not.
Please, customers who are not satisfied with SUCH QoS, let`s make something active!

Hi!
Just how easy will it be to switch from an already existing Shop-Script premium store to the new version?
In other words, how long would it take to switch?
Thank you and kind regards,
Cristian
Comment by Christian — April 10, 2008 @ 12:26 pm
Vladimir and Shop-Script, good luck, I’m looking forward to the new shop. Take it easy
Comment by Robert Siekmann, jr. — April 10, 2008 @ 3:30 pm
I guess it won’t be easy. This interests me also as my current hosting provider runs 4xx php version SS Premium also, new script will require php 5 version. My hosting provider told me that all data will have to be moved to other server in order to use php 5.
Comment by Darius — April 10, 2008 @ 11:38 pm
Hopefully it will be easy, I’m sure Vladimir and Team will include an instruction or posting how to switch existing Shop-Script Premium to new version.
Comment by Ben — April 11, 2008 @ 12:44 am
Yes, installer will provide tools for transferring data from Shop-Script FREE, PRO or PREMIUM.
What is not possible to transfer automatically is storefront design. You will have to tune your design manually using WYSIWYG design editor. We will include several skin templates for your choice.
Again, I’m sorry for delays — we are very close to release, and will email everyone who subscribed at the time it is available for download. Thank you for your interest and support.

Will we be able to download new script today or tomorrow? Very simple question requires plain answer yes or no. Thank you.

Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 17, 2008 @ 2:25 am
Thank you. One more question. Will shop-script PREMIUM work if I move it from server with php 4 to server with php 5?
Comment by Darius — April 17, 2008 @ 7:08 am
Yes, Shop-Script works on PHP 5.
However, if you would like to test new cart, simply install new version to the new server and transfer your data from Shop-Script to the new shopping cart and test it (we will publish instructions tomorrow).
In other words, you can install new cart to the new server, keeping current Shop-Script installation on PHP4. When you finish preparing new cart to go live, switching will be easier.
Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 17, 2008 @ 7:31 am
I don’t know how this can be done. I made a phone call to my hosting provider and asked if I can have php5. He told me yes sure, but in order to have it all data must be transfered to another server ( I suppose I can use only one server at time + also it costs 15$, so I wouldn’t like to move back again).
Comment by Darius — April 17, 2008 @ 7:46 am
If you can use one server at a time, you can switch to php5 now.
We have many clients utilizing Shop-Script on PHP5.
For instance, our demo at http://www.shop-script-demo.com/premium/ is running on PHP 5.2.5.
However, if you don’t like to switch, another option is to test new version on your localhost (local computer).
Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 17, 2008 @ 7:53 am
I have nothing against switching (fee or similar) just wanted to be sure it work and is fully compatible with php 5. Thank you.

the default setting is wrong and many links couldn’t be found.
should work out and make it stable.

Since last summer nothing useful for me and my customers were developed in this software. Too many projects you have and not enough employees + time. The shop is very slow and with tons of bugs. The idea of shop is to sell goods and there are very few things helping this in new version.
I have found a perfect solution, another script. I am absolutely amazed how many features it got for 260$, what a huge community, many mods. How often updates come out and how developers treat their customers… Now the only thing I regret is more then a year of waisted time.

I’m thinking if Vladimir and Team making the new version as simple as current version of Shop-Script Premium. I mean simple installation with the same basic process of templating it would be nice because we all shop-script user already familiar with the process. Of course we really need the additional option which is describe here http://www.webasyst.net/shop/features.html but they way we develop is the same way of current Shop-Script Premium.
Comment by Ben — April 21, 2008 @ 4:41 am
i think the new release is like upgrading from windows XP to Vista which require lot’s of hardware requirement and make the system so slow.
to be honest with you guys, i am not really amazed with your new release , it’s not what we expected. i am confused and it’s not easy to modify things and find what i wanted.
it’s so slow. imagine how people can order things in that speed?
not clean interface. it should be developed based on previous version and should be easy to get started.
what a failure ? you guys wasting time for developing that?
stop and try to make it different way, otherwise no one want your software.
Comment by ajimu — April 21, 2008 @ 5:07 pm
What a joke…. Downloaded the new file, installed it got it up and going and I spent over three hours trying to get the product pictures in directories that it requested. I do php scripting full time at work, and I am very familliar with how this “should” work, but there are too many bugs in the current beta to even warrant this as a beta release.
What are you trying to do run off all your customers. I was looking to add on to the services with some webasyst programs, but again you produce a product that produces too many script errors and leaves your customers having to know years of code to fix the errors.
Very disappointed so far in the shop-script product!!!!!
Comment by Mark Hannah — April 26, 2008 @ 11:27 pm
After trying the update it is beyond my average skills, i would have just like to see an update to shop script premium.
Comment by jason — April 27, 2008 @ 3:02 pm
Mark, it appears that your installation was not ok since scripts produced errors — most probably not all of required modules were loaded.

Hi
Having read all the comments I can not agree with them.
I downloaded the product last week it installed first time. I have only found a few bugs all was fixed by Vladimir and his team within 24 hours. The new features are really cool and work well. We have even enabled the widgets and linked back to the shopping cart from a static website.
We are running tests on our server and really can not find any further bugs.
Come on guys the product is in beta test give them a break the bugs will be sorted on the next release.

Comment by Vladimir V. Tuporshin — April 29, 2008 @ 12:28 am
I may agree with Paul but please remember not all shop-script user are doing programming things. First time I decided to buy this product because I found its so easy to customize the template/skinning without touching the source code and very easy installation process. And again all shop-script user already familiar with previous version so keep it as simple as possible they way we develop.
I my self have no problem waiting for the final release as long its become better but easy to develop.
So Vladimir and Team, Take your time and do best for us!!!
Comment by ben — April 29, 2008 @ 1:09 am
Hi Ben
I have found the administration part of the software to be one of the best parts. You can easily change a template by a few mouse clicks. The new template editor makes changing the look so simple compared with the old version. I have spent many hours trying to change a template via dreamweaver and not always with great success. The new template editor makes this process so easy and the online video guide helps. I don’t have a great knowledge of php so this is a great new feature.

“Come on guys the product is in beta test give them a break the bugs will be sorted on the next release.”
How can you tell this to a customer who purchased license in 2006? Can you really be serious?
There was a note somewhere on the page of shop-script.com saying software is always under development,
it is frequently updated with new features and updates, now it has vanished, why? Looked over all site, can’t find
it anymore. This was the only reason I chose shop-script among other competitors.
How can you use software for 2 years and start from the zero, not speaking about bugs and super slow engine
also I was unable to transfer products from old shop least not with pictures.
I understand that I have purchased software as it was. But I feel tricked with company marketing. In two years I did not receive any of the so called updates.
Free shipping wasn’t working, major headache stock level control is not fixed to this day.
Now new customers pay 300$ to become beta tester ?
New changes might interest first time buyers, but for customers who purchased software in 2006 or earlier they are forced to start all over again (how else can you get rid of stock level bug?). Nothing at all has been done in all these years, well engine! Yes and let me ask how it affect sales? Things like ease of the design changing from back end sound funny for those who do everything with their hands (you make a design and you forget about it don’t you?). I wounder if the “highslide” mod picture pop up effect is with a license or not?

Hi there,
I am really frustrated with this shop cart and its support. It is one month that I am trying to get things work but nothing does. I spent a lot of money to avoid the trouble of dealing with free shop cart but I ended up spending more time with this supposedly turnkey shop script with too much hype.
Exactly how much control are we supposed to have with this shopping cart?
I want to design my own front end because I want to. I follow the very little instruction provided by you folks and put everything in the { } in my web page. I do not get the correct result.
For example, I want the shop items to be displayed the way I want. But I do not have that control on it. As per instruction, I put the {include file=”$main_content_template”} in my web page but I get another format displayed which I can not control. How can I display things the way I want to. Please try to understand the problem and answer it in detail with examples and do not shove it aside with few words. I do not want you to take my hand but at least you should provide detail instruction. There are 100+ manual but really nothing on integration into your website. For example, in each temple folder there are over 50 files. No instruction is provided as what are these files, how should we go about using and changing them to our own end. Do you mind providing some info?
A very frustrated and dissatisfied customer

Hi there,
I am using the Premium shop script. In this version, you can rate an item and discuss the item by posting comments. How can you turn off these features: rating and discussion? Thanks
Comment by Sayed — July 30, 2008 @ 7:27 am
You can remove links to discussions and rating form in the design editor (in WebAsyst Shop-Script) or in template templates/frontend/tmpl*/product_detailed.tpl.html (in Shop-Script PRO or PREMIUM).

I did try to remove that part that deals with rating from product_detailed.tpl.html. But then I get a fatal error message. Would you specify, excactly which part or parts need to be removec or commented? I tried myself several times but always get the same error message. If I remember, the error message refers to line 39.
Thanks

Yes, we are unable to provide source code consulting since this is a complex, not a straight forward issue.
If you get Smarty error, this means you deleted “system” part of template source code, e.g. opening { or closing }.
